Secretary William Francis Galvin - Paul & Niki Tsongas Award
William Francis Galvin, Secretary of the Commonwealth and Chair of the Massachusetts Historical Commission is a 2023 Paul & Niki Tsongas Award recipient.
Secretary Galvin was born and raised in Brighton, Massachusetts, where he
resides today with his wife Eileen and daughter Bridget. He is an elections
attorney and a lifelong Democrat who has emerged as a national leader in
elections administration and financial services oversight.
As Chair of the Massachusetts Historical Commission since 1995, Secretary Galvin knows the economic and cultural benefits of historic preservation.
Over the years, his strong advocacy for preservation efforts has yielded
repeat extensions to the Massachusetts Historic Rehabilitation Tax Credit
(MHRTC) program and increases to the annual cap on available credits.
The MHRTC program continues to flourish under his leadership.
